Negative Ions are negatively charged atoms that are more abundant in fresh, clean air. As air becomes polluted, the negative ions in the air are depleted. Negative ions are produced naturally by a layer in the Biomat that contains tourmaline.
 
     

Scientific Fact: Amethyst and Tourmaline Naturally Generate Far Infrared Rays and Negative Ions Respectively

The world's best source of Amethyst comes from Korea. For thousands of years, amethyst has been used as a healing stone for all sorts of ailments and illnesses. Amethyst naturally emit far infrared rays. According to the American Heart Association, the circulatory system is responsible for the delivery of oxygen-rich blood and the removal of harmful wastes.1 In Dr. Inoue and Dr. Kabaya's paper entitled "Biological activities caused by far-infrared radiation," far infrared rays have been shown to enhance blood circulation in human skin and, after some time, eventually cause body tissue temperature to rise.2

In 1991, two German scientists were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for Physiology or Medicine for discoveries pertaining to "the function of single ion channels in cells". Eventually, their work led to discovering how ion channels play a role in different diseases. THE RICHWAY BIOMAT VS. ELECTRIC HEAT MAT

Unlike an electric blanket, the Biomat does not get hot when it's turned on. However, if you lie down on it, it warms the inside of your body and the part of the pad making contact with your skin gets warm. When any part of the pad gets higher than the selected temperature, the sheet current is cut off by thermal sensors distributed throughout the Biomat. The Biomat comes with an external control box where the AC is converted to DC and you can also adjust the desired temperature of the Biomat.
